A cardiac consultation is a one-on-one appointment with a specialist cardiologist to assess your heart health, investigate symptoms and plan any treatment or testing you may need. At Yarrabilba Cardiology & Specialist Centre, our cardiologists take the time to understand your medical history, your risk factors and your concerns, then work with you and your referring GP on a clear, personalised plan.
Consultations are available at our Yarrabilba and Springwood clinics, with telehealth appointments available for suitable patients. All GP referrals are accepted, and bulk billing is available for eligible patients with a valid Medicare referral.

Conditions We Assess and Manage
Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
We run a dedicated hypertension clinic for the assessment of suspected high blood pressure and the ongoing management of chronic hypertension. Assessment may include 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and an echocardiogram to check whether blood pressure is affecting the heart or other organs. We manage both primary and secondary hypertension, with the aim of detecting and treating high blood pressure early. High blood pressure affects around 1 in 3 Australian adults and often has no symptoms, which is why proper assessment matters.
Coronary Heart Disease
Coronary heart disease occurs when the arteries supplying the heart become narrowed by plaque. Our cardiologists assess your risk and symptoms, arrange appropriate investigations such as stress echocardiograms or CT coronary angiography, and provide ongoing management including medication, risk factor control and lifestyle guidance, in coordination with your GP.
Heart Failure
Heart failure means the heart is not pumping as effectively as it should. We provide assessment, echocardiographic evaluation and ongoing management aimed at improving symptoms and quality of life, including medication optimisation and regular specialist review.
Cardiac Arrhythmias
Arrhythmias are problems with the heart’s rhythm, such as atrial fibrillation or unexplained palpitations. Assessment may include ECG, Holter monitoring or extended heart rhythm monitoring. Management options range from observation and medication through to referral for procedures such as ablation or device implantation where needed.
Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD)
Adults born with a heart condition benefit from regular specialist follow-up, even when feeling well. We provide ongoing surveillance and management for ACHD patients, including echocardiographic monitoring, medication management and coordination of referral to tertiary ACHD services for procedures or surgery where required.
General Cardiac Management and Risk Review
Not every referral relates to a diagnosed condition. We also see patients for cardiovascular risk assessment, pre-operative cardiac review, abnormal test follow-up and second opinions, covering topics such as cholesterol, blood pressure, diet, exercise and family history.

Initial consultations generally take longer than reviews, as your cardiologist takes a full history and examination. Allow up to an hour for your first visit; our team will confirm timing when you book.
Telehealth consultations are available for suitable patients, particularly for reviews and for patients who have difficulty attending in person. Some assessments and all diagnostic tests require an in-person visit.
If testing is performed on the day, your cardiologist will discuss available findings with you. Formal results and reports are also sent to your referring GP.
Appointment availability varies. Urgent referrals are prioritised based on clinical need, so ask your GP to mark the referral as urgent where appropriate, and contact our team directly to discuss.
