If left untreated, it can lead to serious health issues such as stroke, heart failure, and kidney failure. Hypertension during pregnancy (pre-eclampsia) poses risks for both mother and baby. Blood pressure is measured in two phases: systolic (when the heart pumps blood) and diastolic (when the heart rests between beats). Hypertension occurs when pressure in the arteries is consistently higher than normal, increasing the risk of complications. Regular monitoring is key, as hypertension often has no symptoms but can lead to severe consequences if undetected.
